I was happy that in the second duel it didn't go, "LOOK TWILIGHT CAN FULFILL EVERY FANFICTION EVER LOL" and explained there are some things unicorn magic CAN'T do, because at first it seemed like the Mane Five reacted like, "Well, Twilight's banished and we're helpless without her! " But I'm glad to say they took part in defeating Trixie and weren't just Twilight's backup group.
BTW, was anyone else getting sick of Fluttershy's whining? The whole freaking town had been enslaved, for crying out loud!
I actually think we could end up seeing more of antagonistic Trixie if they decide to go down that route, though different than what we saw in this episode. I think if she got another really easy chance to be superpowerful again (perhaps a deal with Discord or some other villan), she would accept.
Disclaimer: Some of what follows is likely just my own interpretation.
See, I kind of think that Trixie is a fundamentally weak person. I'm not actually bashing her, let me explain: Trixie is a foil for Twilight. Twilight has a great deal of magical power and emotional strength, but she values the latter more. To Twilight, real power is measured by your strength as a person (and when you consider what the Elements of Harmony represent, she's entirely correct). Trixie, on the other hand, has very little magical power and emotional strength, but values the former more. To her, real power is directly proportional to how much magical energy you can throw around. Being magically powerful is everything to her.
Trixie may have gotten a glimpse of the real reason why Twilight is stronger than her, but something tells me that old habits die hard...
This episode was fantastic, I really loved the conflict between Trixie and Twilight and how she was able to turn the tables on Trixie at the end to get the amulet. I honestly didn't see that coming, it was such a brilliantly plotted scheme! And to have Zecora return to aid Twilight was totally unexpected, I was thrilled to see her again!
So many great moments in this episode, and a great return for Trixie, it was great to see her finally show remorse for her actions. I hope we'll see more of her eventually
Now that Trixie's finally starting to see the error of her ways, I really hope she'll show up again from time to time And again, I never expected Zecora to show up again so soon in this season That's two fan favorites in one go!
That seems to be the popular fanbase consensus I've loved all the episodes so far, and this one is probably the best of the season so far One Bad Apple was a lot of fun, I hope we get to see more Babs Seed
From what I've read, Zecora was originally going to be a sort of spiritual adviser to Twilight in early plans but that was scrapped as the series was turned into an episodic format. It's cool that the tird season is actually using some of Faust's original plans.
I loved the episode. Trixie strikes back with a vengeance! So Trixie had to beat up Tom's relatives on the Rock farm. I was expecting Trixie to banish Twilight to the moon to be honest. The nods and winks were clever(I loved the background scene of Lyra drinking a Hay shake with her hooves. I see what you did there Hasbro) The use of the Wilhelm scream was creative and clever. Truly an awesome episode. Made me laugh a lot.
It was a really fun episode. So many fanmade stuff brought into the show, too. From the SOPA containment force field to Double Rainbow, from straw-drinking Lyra to gender-bender Applejack, even filly-sized ponies and that cursor with the recycle bin (does this mean that the ponies also have computers?). And that Arabian mare is very beautiful.
it was a real blast to see that epidose, I kind of dreaded it for a long time, mainly due fear or previous "revenge" plots <insert joke here> not on MLP mind you, only that revenge in general.
Also one thing Im noticing, is it just me or Spike is who pretty much summons Trixie to begin with? everytime he compliments Twilight on the use of her magic and how strong that is getting BAM Trixie appears, is like his praising would ignite a Trixie Signal in the sky or something
MLP: FIM is awesome 'cuz the creators-audience relationship is strong, thanks to the Bronies. That's how TV shows should be these days to succeed in the world we live now (Internet, massive communication, globalization, etc.).
